BANGOR – A Bangor psychiatrist is no longer allowed to treat female patients following an investigation into his behavior.
Dr. Fred Risser entered into a consent agreement with the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine this week.
Risser was investigated for having an unprofessional relationship with a female patient while working at Community Health and Counseling in Ellsworth and at his private practice.
Documents on file at the licensure office reveal Risser treated the woman in 2009 and 2010.
In May of 2014, another female patient accused Risser of slapping her buttocks.
Community Health and Counseling fired Risser last year for unprofessional conduct, according to the agreement.
Risser must now reimburse the board more than $4-thousand-dollars for the cost of the investigation.
