BANGOR – The Greater Bangor Convention and Visitors Bureau holding their annual tourism awards last night at the Cross Center.
It was the 20th awards ceremony recognizing the companies and industries that enhance the tourism and hospitality in the region.
Darling’s Auto Group and a former “Big Wig” of the Maine Tourism Association, were a few of the many receiving awards.
Executive Director Kerrie Tripp says it wouldn’t happen without local businesses. “Because we can’t do it by ourselves, so everyone time we have a business that is stepping up and making themselves bigger and better and more out there, it helps our brand. It helps us with what we are doing and together we are a stronger community. I think that shows when we are out showcasing our region, when we are out talking about who you can go visit, where you can visit and who can do this. It really sends that message to people that they can be here, and it can be like home and they can be themselves.”
Along with a formal dinner, guests also taking part in a silent auction.
