MOUNT DESERT ISLAND – It was an unusual rescue for the Mount Desert Fire Department that required the help of several area agencies.
Moby, a 16-year-old Husky got stuck nearly a hundred feet down a culvert. His owners reported him missing on Sunday, only to later hear his barks from inside the culvert, that’s when they called authorities.
The Mount Desert Fire Department responded and with the help of a camera from the town of Bar Harbor they were able to pinpoint the dogs location. The public works department also pitched in, digging a trench so the firemen could gain access.
It was all caught on camera by Erica Merchant, a local resident.
Chief Mike Bender says the rescue took around 4 hours, and although shaken, Moby was in good condition.
