SOLON – Mainers heading to the Kennebec River over the weekend to support a local camp for those with disabilities.
Saturday marked the 19th Annual Paddle for Pine Tree Camp. 165 people took part – double last year’s participation.
Those at the camp say they’ve never turned a camper away due to money, which makes the event so important.
“So tuition is $1900 for a session and people pay what they can afford so today all the money that was raised will go to scholarship tuition for our campers.” Erin Rice, Pine Tree Society
The goal was to raise 40-thousand dollars. Organizers say they believe they more than surpassed that number.
