KENDUSKEAG – A portion of Broadway was shut down Wednesday evening while authorities responded to a head-on collision in Kenduskeag.
It happened shortly after 4:00 p.m. just before the Grant Road between a white mini van and a red truck.
A sheriff’s deputy said three people inside the van, all in their 30s, had to be transported to the hospital with injuries.
The driver of the truck ran away from the scene, but authorities eventually located him.
First responders then spent time reconstructing the scene.
“The injuries appear to be some serious injuries for sure,” said Sgt. Roy Perry with the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office. “As far as the reconstruction and the mapping, it’s more to try to figure out what actually happened at the accident, you know, what caused the accident.”
The portion of the road was shut down for more than two hours, but has since reopened.
No word yet on if any charges will be filed, as the accident remains under investigation.
