MACHIAS – A New York man denied killing a New Gloucester woman in Cherryfield when he appeared in a Machias court Friday afternoon.
A Washington County court clerk said 36-year-old Carine Reeves entered a not guilty plea to the charge of murdering Sally Shaw.
A spokesperson for the Maine Attorney General’s Office said, Reeves was returned to Maine Tuesday and has been held without bail at the Washington County jail.
Reeves is charged with murder in connection with the July 2017 shooting death of 55-year-old Sally Shaw.
Reeves was arrested in New York in August 2017 but remained in New York until this week.
The attorney general’s spokesperson says Reeves was held in New York to face charges of assaulting a corrections officer.
