AUGUSTA – An Augusta man is facing a number of charges after state police say he led authorities on a high-speed chase Thursday.
According to a statement from Maine State Police, it happened around 11:30 p.m. July 9.
The statement said a trooper was traveling west on Route 3 in Augusta, when a vehicle came speeding up behind him.
The trooper said the vehicle was going 109 miles per hour in a 50 mph zone.
Police say the driver, 38-year-old Nathan Hansell of Augusta, led police on a brief chase, ending on Anthony Avenue in Augusta.
Hansell was arrested and charged with OUI, criminal speed, possession of drugs and eluding a law enforcement officer.
His bail was set at $2,500 cash.
