ELLSWORTH – A man arrested in connection to an incident on Verona Island last Thursday made his first court appearance Monday.
Jeffrey Witham, 44, of Verona island was arrested in Plymouth Friday after police were called to investigate an alleged domestic violence incident at a home on the island.
According to police, they obtained search warrants and an arrest warrant for Witham but he was no longer at the home when they arrived.
Witham was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault, terrorizing with a dangerous weapon, aggravated assault, domestic violence criminal threatening and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Witham appeared before Judge Michael Roberts via Zoom for a charge of violating his probation and was denied bail.
He is scheduled to make his next court appearance on the probation violation on Aug. 3.
