BANGOR – A judge set bail for a Bangor man accused of attempted murder at $100,000 dollars.
Joshua McAuliffe, 40, made his first appearance before a judge via video conference Friday afternoon.
McAuliffe is charged with attempted murder, elevated aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
He allegedly stabbed a woman at 7:23 a.m. Wednesday at a Westland Street home.
She was taken to a local hospital with “very serious injuries.”
“In the interview with the victim, she stated that the defendant had threatened to kill her before, and said that if he can’t have her, no one will, or some words to that effect,” said Mark Rucci, assistant district attorney for Penobscot County, during the hearing. “The state has extremely serious concerns about the safety of this victim if Mr. McAuliffe is released.”
McAuliffe didn’t enter a plea at Friday’s hearing, since his case has not yet been presented to a grand jury.
