BANGOR — Maine State Police responded to a crash on the I-95 northbound 186 off-ramp at about 9:22 a.m. Saturday, according to a press release.
The release from the state police says James Rice, 38, of Bangor was exiting I-95 when his vehicle did not negotiate the right hand curve and went off the road and into an embankment, where it hit a tree. The tree impacted the driver’s side door of his car.
Rice was wearing a seatbelt but was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only person in the car.
The Bangor Fire Department helped Maine State Police at the scene that closed the off-ramp to traffic for about two hours.
The release says the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
