BANGOR – The man accused of killing someone outside a Bangor nightclub over the weekend appeared before a judge Monday afternoon.
Rayshaun Moore of Bangor, 34, is being held without bail at the Penobscot County jail.
Moore has been charged with one count of knowing or intentional murder.
According to Bangor police, Moore was involved in a confrontation early Saturday morning outside the Half Acre nightclub on Harlow Street.
The victim in the fight, 25-year-old Demetrius Snow of Bangor, suffered life threatening injuries and later passed away at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center.
According to someone who spoke to the victim’s mother, Snow is one of 12 children and the family is devastated.
“This is even a bigger tragedy because these people are all coworkers, friends,” said Robert Kearns, who said he knows both the victim and the suspect. “They were drinking together. It’s a horrible tragedy when a friend takes the life of another.”
Kearns said the girlfriends and friends of both men were in the courtroom.
An autopsy will be done at the medical examiner’s office in Augusta.
Moore was not asked to enter a plea, as his case has not yet been presented to the Penobscot County Grand Jury.
That’s expected to happen within the next month.
