BANGOR- With students likely doing remote learning before the end of the school year, the Bangor school committee is implementing a new grading system.
High school and middle school will receive the grades passing with distinction, passing, failing, or incomplete.
Younger grades are going to have a similar scale.
The Bangor High School principal, Paul Butler, said this grading system is “more suited to the situation.”
Butler said class rankings won’t change until schools are back on a normal grading system.
Awards will also be given based on the last semester of numeric grading.
School superintendent, Dr. Betsy Webb, said there’s 350 students who don’t have access to high speed internet or devices.
This change will delay the release of 3rd quarter report cards by two weeks.
