BANGOR – Kids will have a chance to learn some basic skills when it comes to swimming at the Bangor YMCA.
The Safety Around Water course is geared toward kids ages 6 to 12 to help them be safe around the water before the start of summer.
The hope is they learn these skills so they are prepared in case of an event.
“They’re going to learn the very basics of jump, turn, push grab, and then swim, float, swim. Essential stuff so when they fall in the water or if they’re swimming and they’re tired that they’ll be able to save themselves,” said Shawn Rich, the Bangor Y’s aquatics manager.
The swim lessons will be held from Feb. 17-20. The cost is $5 for Y members and $10 for non-members. Signups are open until Sunday.
