BELFAST- The city of Belfast’s Planning Board met Wednesday evening to discuss the status of Nordic Aquafarms permit application.
For the potential fish farm to begin to be developed, the significant groundwater well permit is one of five needed.
But to get the permit, Nordic’s project has to meet four different criteria set by the planning board which includes measurements on the project’s air emissions, wetlands impact, waste discharge into the bay and lowering of the water table.
“Based upon the analysis that’s been provided by Nordic … these four criteria have been satisfied by the applicant,” Belfast’s Code and Planning Director Wayne Marshall said.
The board member also said there will be two more meetings in august to focus on Nordic Aquafarms permit request.
