BELFAST – The Belfast Planning Board gathered virtually to review Nordic Aquafarm’s application to develop a salmon farm facility.
Currently the proposal has the aquafarm being developed in two phases over 5 or more years. Once the project is finished, the aqua farm is expected to produce over 72 million pounds of salmon per year.
Early Wednesday night, the board members discussed zoning permits for the plan and how involved they would want to be in the project’s construction.
“Do you want to receive information on an informational basis, do you want to the city to receive and review, do you want the city to receive and approve. Those are all options,” Belfast’s project planner Wayne Marshall said.
