ORONO – February is Black History Month and an event at the University of Maine this weekend will help to celebrate it.
The Maine Human Rights Coalition will hold its fifth annual Black Lives Matter breakfast at the Wells Conference Center on the Orono campus.
Coalition President James Varner said it’s an event the entire family should attend.
“We’re going to have an exciting time. We want you to come out and find out why we have Black History Month and what we should be doing as white people and colored people, how we can be a part of making Dr. Martin Luther King’s dream become a reality,” Varner said.
The breakfast will take place from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Tickets will be available at the door for $20 each, $10 for seniors and $8 for children.
