YORK – The Maine Marine Patrol said a scuba diver’s body was pulled from the water near Nubble Light in York.
A statement from the Department of Marine Resources said the body of 67-year-old Walter Fabian of Nashua, New Hampshire, was recovered from the northeast shore of Cape Neddick.
Officials said Fabian had been diving with a friend and the two got separated Tuesday afternoon. The friend swam to shore and then called for assistance after Fabian did not, according to the release.
Fabian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said currents have been strong in that area. Another diver had to be rescued on Monday.
