MILO – Police have confirmed the body that rescuers recovered from the Sebec River in Downtown Milo Tuesday afternoon was that of 24-year old Cevonte Johnson.
The Milo Police Department posted on its Facebook page Tuesday evening, confirming Johnson’s body had been found.
“With the help of sophisticated equipment and the divers from the Maine State Police and Warden Service, Cevonte was recovered,” police said in the social media statement.
“We cannot and we will not speculate on anything regarding the circumstances, as this is still an active investigation,” the statement continued.
Searchers pulled Johnson’s body out of the river around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Johnson, who was the subject of many area searches, had been missing since Dec. 29.
