BREWER- On Saturday, the Brewer Area Food Pantry worked with the Brewer Hannafords to fill a bus with donations, literally.
Volunteers from the Brewer Area Food Pantry spent the day outside Hannafords accepting monetary and non-perishable food donations to keep fighting against food insecurity.
Each donation they received went on their donation themed school bus to be driven back to the pantry’s location.
“With COVID-19, a lot of our donations have dried up and a lot of our fundraisers that we used to be able to do during the year has been canceled. So my boss decided we should fill the bus, so we’re out here filling the bus,” Brewer Area Food Pantry Coordinator Cindy Copeland said.
She added the food drive will help tremendously to fill the shelves at the pantry with the plan of some of the donations heading to students planning on doing remote learning in the fall.
