BANGOR – A local church congregation paid tribute to a 23-year-old Bangor man who was murdered more than three decades ago.
The Unitarian Universalist Society of Bangor held its annual Charlie Howard Memorial Service via Zoom Sunday.
A picture posted on the organization’s Facebook page shows congregation members gathered outside.
The post said they walked down to the river to pay tribute to Howard, who was a former member of the church.
Howard was harassed, assaulted and killed for being gay in 1984.
The church’s post called Howard’s death a tragic loss, and vowed to never forget.
