BANGOR – There’s been some debate over whether it’s legal to wear a mask while carrying a concealed weapon.
According to the Bangor Police Department, the answer is yes.
Sgt. Wade Betters, public information officer, said that carrying a concealed weapon does not excuse people from the governor’s mandate.
The mandate requires people in Bangor, Brewer and other certain areas to wear a mask in public spaces.
“If you have a concealed weapon and you’re using that as an excuse not to comply with the governors order, we’d advise you not to do that,” Betters said.
Betters said they haven’t responded to any calls of people refusing to wear masks and that stores have been enforcing the rules.
