MILLINOCKET – The Maine Supreme Judicial Court upheld a lower court’s conviction of a Millinocket man in connection with the 2015 death of a 7-month-old boy.
Last November, a Bangor judge sentenced 37-year-old Jessee Mackin to 11 years in prison but suspended all but five and half years of that sentence.
Mackin was convicted of manslaughter in connection with the death of his then-girlfriend’s son, Larry Earl Lord.
Mackin’s attorney tried to convince the state’s highest court there was insufficient evidence for a manslaughter conviction.
The court rejected the argument made by Mackin’s attorneys.
In the written opinion, the justices wrote the evidence clearly indicated only Mackin could have been responsible for the baby’s death.
