AUGUSTA — The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Wednesday that the number of cases of COVID-19 in the state has jumped by 54, bringing the cumulative total to 5,391.
The statewide death toll, however, remained at 141, state health officials said.
Of the total cases counted in Maine so far, 567 were considered probable and 572 were considered active, Maine CDC posted on its website.
The latest CDC COVID-19 statistics show 4,678 people have recovered from the virus since it hit Maine in mid-March, while a total of 449 people have required hospitalization to treat the virus.
So far, nearly 438,000 coronavirus tests have been conducted around the state, according to the Maine CDC.
