STATEWIDE – The Maine Crafts Association is getting creative this year due COVID-19 cancellations.
The nonprofit organization has found a safe way to highlight the work of its craft artist members.
It is launching a new social media campaign called Source and Buy to drive traffic directly to artist e-commerce sites as a way to increase their sales during the pandemic.
“This time has been really, really hard for artists. Sometimes they’ve not been able to neatly fit in to the government programs or unemployment as small businesses or sometimes they have a part-time job that eliminates them from some of the easy to apply for benefits,” said Maine Crafts Association Executive Director Sadie Bliss.
Bliss said the website was started in mid-April and since then, between 70 and 80 crafters have been gaining followings and receiving orders.
