STATEWIDE – Vaccination distribution was the focus of a medical briefing Wednesday afternoon.
As of today, the hospitals of Northern Light Health statewide have surpassed the 10,000 doses of COVID-19 mark, which were administered to health-care workers and long-term care facilities employees.
Dr. James Jarvis of Northern Light Health said in addition to those numbers, Northern Light has vaccinated 600 workers who provide services to the hospital, but are not employed by Northern Light Health.
“Anyone who wants the vaccine, we want them to get the vaccine, but it’s just going to take time. It’s just an economy of scale. The amount of vaccinations we’ve been receiving is the reason why we haven’t reached to the general population or high risk category individuals,” said Dr. James Jarvis of Northern Light Health.
So far, Northern Light has been using over 80% of the vaccine it has received.
Dr. Jarvis said it’s been a smooth process, but hopes it can be promptly distributed to the general population.
