BANGOR – The “Together Place Peer Run Recovery Center” is kicking off a monthly creative recovery initiative this weekend, with award-winning poet Arisa White.
White will speak this Saturday and although in person seats are just about full, you can still see white’s appearance via facebook live.
Together Place will be doing this for the next 12 months, as they look for people with skills in vocational or creative arts to co-facilitate recovery group.
The programs aims to combat the dual crisis of substance abuse and suicide.
“We’re taking it on with continuing what we currently offer and then adding these new programs that benefit people in recovery, but also benefit Bangor by bringing writers and artists to our city,” said Executive Director Sean Faircloth.
The sessions run for an hour, once a week for about 6 weeks and those who wish to get involved will be paid, according to the release.
