STATEWIDE – The Maine Credit Union League’s annual Campaign for Ending Hunger is happening this year but will be conducted online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The month-long fundraising drive began Thursday and runs through July 4. Since 1990, the campaign has raised more than $9 million, including a record-breaking $832,000 last year.
Synergent, the league’s service subsidiary, has pledged $100,000 to kick start the effort, which supports Good Shepherd Food Bank’s COVID-19 response and other community food pantries.
“Good Shepherd Food Bank, let’s face it, are moving mountains to feed people and make sure those food assistance programs have stocked shelves and goods that are keeping people fed right now,” MCUL spokeswoman Jen Burke said.
Donations can be made online at campaignforendinghunger.org and are tax deductible.
