BANGOR – A program that helps less fortunate families during the holidays got a boost from employees at the Cross Insurance Center.
According to Penquis, their Christmas is for Kids program had more than 1,000 children sign up to receive gifts this holiday season.
On Wednesday, full-time employees at the Cross Insurance Center made sure some of those children get to enjoy opening gifts Christmas morning.
General Manager Tony Vail said the center is a community building and this is their way of giving back.
“The holiday season is the time to involve the community, especially those kids who wouldn’t necessarily be able to enjoy the holiday season and this will hopefully help them enjoy the holiday season,” Vail said.
Christmas is for Kids provides gifts to kids enrolled in programs sponsored by Penquis and nearly a dozen other local agencies.
