AUGUSTA – Tuesday, March 3rd has been selected as the date for a special election to fill the House of Representatives District 128 seat.
The seat became vacant December 28th when representative Arthur Verow died.
According to his office, Secretary of State Matt Dunlap signed the vacancy announcement earlier this week.
Dunlap says, it’s up to the local democrat, republican and green independent parties to select a nominee for the special election.
The names of the nominees must be sent to the Secretary of State’s office by 5 p.m., January 23.
Un-enrolled candidates need to submit nominating petitions with 50 valid signatures from registered voters.
Those petitions must be submitted to Dunlap’s office by close of business January 23.
Who ever is elected will serve the balance of Verow’s term, which expires at the end of December this year.
