BANGOR – Delta Airlines is pulling its planes out of Bangor.
Bangor International Airport Director Tony Caruso said Delta has seen a drastic decline in the number of passengers flying into or out of BIA.
He said fewer people are flying due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Caruso said Delta’s withdrawal is expected to be temporary.
He said the U.S. Department of Transportation granted requests from 15 airlines to move out of 75 airports.
“We’ll certainly keep that dialogue open,” Caruso said. “All the forecasts that we’ve done, you know, all the folks that we’ve talked to, industry experts, most are saying it’s going to be a slow, albeit long recovery period.”
Delta Airlines has been flying out of Bangor since the city purchased the airport from the federal government.
