BANGOR – A local dentist office is working to make staff and patients feel safe as it begins to reopen.
Twin City Dental in Bangor opened this week after being closed due to COVID-19.
Staff have set up “negative pressure” ventilation systems, which they say can quickly clear air out of the operating rooms while dentists, hygienists and patients are inside.
Staff say the new system helps in the interim, as they try and hunt down more personal protective equipment.
“It helps. And plus, it was hard to find N95 [masks],” said Dr. Louise King, DMD, MSc, at Twin City Dental. “We’re still waiting for other types of PPE, for more N95s, to make sure we’re stocked up, because dentists are competing with hospitals to get those masks.”
