EASTPORT – Wednesday, Governor Janet Mills urged out-of-staters, who might be planning a trip to Maine to escape the coronavirus, to stay put.
Earlier this week, executive director of the Eastport Port Authority Chris Gardner posted on Facebook that people need to remember just because a vehicle has out-of-state license plates doesn’t mean the owner isn’t a resident.
In his post, Gardner stated the Eastport community was fortunate to have the Coast Guard members living and working in the region.
He says there have been reports during the past couple of weeks of locals harassing people driving vehicles bearing out-of-state plates.
Gardner reminded people “not everyone who lives in Eastport has a Maine plate.”
