AUGUSTA – Officials had positive news Thursday during a meeting of the Consensus Economic Forecasting Commission at the Maine State House.
Those involved said the economic forecast they worked on Thursday will aid the governor and legislature as they make policies through the rest of this legislative session.
Commissioners said the general view was that Maine’s economy remains strong.
“It just continues to grow at the pace that we had expected and revenue performance is reflecting that. The state’s unemployment rate remains low,” said Michael Allen, associate commissioner for tax policy.
Employment growth, wage and salary growth, and inflation are analyzed to come up with the revenue forecast.
