ELLSWORTH – With the arrival of the coronavirus, the annual spring cleanup in Ellsworth was canceled.
Even so, a couple from the community-led Green Plan group decided to do it themselves.
Edward and Jackie Grohoski started on April 19 cleaning the right side of U.S. Route 1A leading into town.
“We just got tired of looking at it all,” Edward Grohoski said.
“It makes you feel productive, you know you’ve accomplished something,” added Jackie Grohoski.
Now they’re working on the right side of the road leading out of town. The couple are the parents of state Rep. Nicole Grohoski, who was instrumental in the start of the city’s green plan.
A UPS driver who works in Bar Harbor noticed the cleanup and contacted ABC 7/Fox 22 to let us know about this good deed.
