ELLSWORTH- City councilors passed an ordinance to discourage visitors in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Throughout the month of April, hotels, motels, and short term rentals will not be open to visitors.
The only exceptions are for essential workers and those taking care of family members.
Councilors also passed a resolution to encourage people to stay where they are and not travel.
“We want visitors to our area. We look forward to that. Summer is coming,” said council chair, Dale Hamilton. “But our focus right now, it needs to be on health and safety.”
Councilors also voted to waive the Pay as You Throw fees on trash pick-up through the month of April.
