ELLSWORTH – On Wednesday, Ellsworth city councilors appointed their new chair and swore in 3 members.
Ellsworth is a growing community that’s constantly changing.
“There’s a lot of good things happening in Ellsworth right now,” said city manager, David Cole. “We certainly have our challenges with all the growth going on, but everyone sitting at the table is there for the right reasons.”
3 councilors were sworn in, including incumbent Mark Blanchette, and newcomers Michelle Kaplan and Robert Miller.
“We have people with experience and individuals who are joining for the first time,” said newly appointed chair, Dale Hamilton. “I think that makes a great composition for a council. You have experience and new ideas. I’m pretty excited.”
Hamilton added that he’s excited to see what the group will accomplish.
“When we come together as a council, our first goal is just identifying what the priorities are for the group and working towards those,” Hamilton said.
Hamilton said he expects their priorities will include housing and road improvements.
“I’m confident going forward there are a lot of good things in Ellsworth’s future,” said Cole.
Their next regular council meeting is November 18th.
