INDIAN STREAM TOWNSHIP – Authorities say a Fairfield woman died after being thrown from a whitewater raft on Saturday.
It happened around 11:30 a.m. after a group went through larger rapids on the upper Kennebec River, according to a statement from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
Emily Fournier, 33, was unresponsive when she was pulled from the water, according to the MDIFW statement.
The statement said Fournier and her family were rafting with the Magic Falls Rafting company when she and two others were ejected from the raft.
Attempts to revive her were unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead at the scene, the statement said.
