WALDO COUNTY – A Waldo County resident woke up to find her sign vandalized with a painted swastika emblem on Saturday morning.
The family had a sign in their front lawn that said, “Black, Brown, LGBTQ Lives Matter Too,” in support of the various movements around the country for equality.
The Maine State Police are currently investigating the alleged vandalism.
A follow up post on Facebook showed where she painted over the other side of her sign with a red heart with a caption stating “love trumps hate”.
According to her Facebook post, she reported the crime to numerous agencies, and someone has opened a petition called, “Waldo County Rejects Hate Speech.”
