AUGUSTA – The maintenance man who was called a hero for evacuating a building before a deadly explosion in Farmington in September is set to return home on Friday.
According to a statement from Gov. Janet Mills’ office, Farmington hero Larry Lord will be discharged from the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston and come back home, nearly seven months after he was hurt.
Lord was critically injured in the blast at the Leap, Inc. office building where he worked on Sept. 13.
The explosion killed Farmington Fire Captain Michael Bell and injured several others.
In the statement, Mills said Lord’s “heroism on that tragic day, as well as your perseverance every day since, is a reminder during this difficult time that, with courage and kindness like yours, we can and will overcome.”
