MILLINOCKET- A talented father-daughter duo in Millinocket takes woodworking to the next level.
Personalized ornaments, fishermen, and cowboys are just some of their creations.
In these stressful times, staying busy is a good thing.
89-year-old Ed Carr and his daughter, Nancy, have been doing just that.
“When you’re wood carving or doing some of the other things, you can’t think about anything else,” Ed said. “You’ve got to let your imagination go so you can make different things or make different changes.”
For more than 20 years, Ed and his wife made ornaments for the Christmas Spirit store in Bar Harbor.
“He’s 89 years old. You would think he’s 75 or 50 because he is such an incredible worker and support,” Nancy said about Ed.
Since the Christmas Spirit store recently closed its doors for good, he and his daughter have taken to woodworking.
“We’ve been carving for about a year and a half,” Nancy explained. “You start with a block of wood and you just never know what you’re going to get.”
Their creations range from cowboys to nativity scenes.
“Halfway through your project you can change it to something else and no one knows the difference,” Ed said. “You can paint them yellow instead of red and it becomes a fisherman.”
