DEXTER – The state fire marshal’s office will be investigating a fire that destroyed a trailer in Dexter Monday afternoon.
According to Dexter Fire Chief Matt Connor, crews were called to a mobile home on Upper Garland Road shortly before 3:00 Monday afternoon.
A passerby noticed smoke coming from the trailer and called 911, Connor said.
Connor said it looks like the fire originated in a back bedroom and spread through the ceiling. The trailer was destroyed as a result of the fire.
The homeowner wasn’t home at the time, but Connor said two cats died in the blaze.
A number of area fire departments helped Dexter respond.
The fire marshal’s office is working to determine what caused the fire.
