BANGOR – Several hundred firefighters, friends and family celebrated the life of former Bangor Fire Chief Jeffrey Cammack Friday.
A native of Bangor, Jeffrey Cammack was a Bangor firefighter for more than 30 years. Sixteen of those during which he led the department.
After retiring from Bangor’s fire department, Cammack threw his energy into serving firefighters as the executive director for the Maine Fire Chiefs’ Association.
“He was a strong fire service leader. But he also was a mentor to many of us, many of the people in the room, and reached out and would offer to guide us alongwith things,” said Higgins. “He taught me, maybe, when it was time to talk and maybe it was better as a time to listen.”
Cammack is survived by his wife of 43 years, two daughters and three grandchildren.
Jeffrey Cammack was 62 years old when he died December 28, 2019.
