STATEWIDE – You can bet members of the Class of 2020 won’t forget their senior year.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused most activities — including proms, senior banquets and graduations — to be canceled or changed.
Everyone has been trying to come up with ways to make it special.
We wanted to give local high school valedictorians a chance to give their graduation speeches even if their classmates and families weren’t sitting in front of them.
We’ll be broadcasting those speeches in the coming weeks during the 6 a.m. hour of Good Morning Maine and during Fox 22 News at 10.
We’re also making them available on a Class of 2020 web page for later viewing.
The series kicks off Monday with graduation addresses by Jessica Madsen of Upper Kennebec Valley High School during Good Morning Maine and by Penobscot Valley High School’s Shelby Lancour during the 10 p.m. newscast.
Check our website and social media to find out when the speech for your school will air.
