BUCKSPORT – The Friars are selling their popular hot cross buns and, as always, it’s on a first-come, first-served basis.
The buns, which are sold in pans of six, will be available at the Friars’ Brewhouse and Tap Room on Main Street on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. The brewhouse is closed for Good Friday.
“People have constantly been asking us during Lent and Easter for hot crossed buns,” said Brother Don. “We couldn’t think of a more perfect year to take them out of retirement. If it’s going to make somebody happy and bring a smile to your face, it’s probably something we all need right now.”
On Tuesday, the buns were gone within an hour of the 11:30 a.m. opening.
All the funds from the sale of the buns go to support the Franciscan Brothers of St. Elizabeth and their monastery in Orland.
The brewhouse recently began offers growlers to-go and has food. Check out their Facebook page for updates on what is available.
