CASTINE – A new training vessel could be in the future for Maine Maritime Academy.
The current training ship is almost 30 years old.
Now, a bill Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine) sponsored to provide $300 million to build a new training vessel got a boost this week.
Earlier this week, the U.S. Senate’s Appropriations Committee gave its endorsement to the funding bill.
The Castine school’s president William Brennan says a new vessel will enhance the maritime training and education program.
