MILLINOCKET- Game wardens rescued 2 hunters from the Penobscot River Saturday afternoon.
They were stuck in an aluminum boat they were using to tow a canoe.
As they were crossing the river, they became stuck on thin ice that had formed.
It was too weak to walk on, but too thick to break with the boat.
One of them made it to shore, but the other drifted down the river and over rapids before becoming stuck in a different area of the river.
Wardens used a hovercraft, allowing them to move in shallow water as well as on ice.
Both of the men were wearing life jackets and neither were injured.
