BANGOR – The price of prescription drugs was in the spotlight at a prescription drug forum on Monday.
Maine Speaker of the House and Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Sara Gideon of Freeport hosted the event.
Gideon said big pharmaceutical companies have had too much influence in Washington, where policies are being made.
“Medicare right now is not able to negotiate the price for drugs. That is absolutely something we believe should be done. Putting a cap on prescription drug prices, especially for seniors, seems like a very important and obvious solution,” she said.
The forum gave Maine seniors an opportunity to talk about the cost of prescription drugs and share stories about the tough choices they sometimes face when trying to pay for them.
