BANGOR – U.S. Rep. Jared Golden, D-Maine, sat down with small business owners at Eastern Maine Development Corp. Wednesday to discuss the importance of the Small Business Development Center program.
Golden, who sits on a federal small business committee, recently helped pass bipartisan legislation through the House to reauthorize the program.
According to Golden, the services provided by the state’s small business development centers are free to business owners and are a valuable resource that many don’t know exist.
“We have 11 small business development centers in the 2nd Congressional District alone that have helped, last year alone, over 600 businesses, helped create hundreds of jobs and protect hundreds more,” he said.
Golden said small business round table discussions like the one on Wednesday are held monthly at various locations throughout his district.
