BANGOR — Maine Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King announced Eastern Maine Development Corp. will receive $400,000 in federal funds that will be used to support the redevelopment and revitalization of small businesses throughout Penobscot, Piscataquis, Waldo and Hancock counties.
EMDC President and CEO Lee Umphrey said these business have suffered financial harm due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Part of what we do as an organization is help organizations adapt to changes. And it could be any kind of change but working remotely, businesses being closed, services being stopped, now is the time to really help people retool how they do things and become stronger,” he said.
Umphrey said the money will assist the organization with advancing their technology and staff support for the pandemic response.
