BANGOR – A Hancock has pleaded guilty to possessing fentanyl with the intent to distribute it.
William Smeal, 33, entered the plea Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Bangor.
According to court records, a bag containing more than 100 grams of a substance containing fentanyl was seized from his car in Ellsworth in February of last year.
Smeal admitted to purchasing the drugs in Massachusetts that day, court records indicated.
A search of Smeal’s home and an additional search of his car resulted in another 100 grams of the substance being seized.
Smeal faces between five and 40 years in prison.
